Abstract

Background. The angioarchitecture of the kidney, possible variants of branching of the renal artery in the renal hilum, and features of the blood supply to the organ segments are considered. The purpose of the study is to determine the source of segmentation of the renal artery when it is divided into the upper pole and lower pole branches.. Materials and methods. The study examined 124 corrosive preparations obtained at autopsy of humans. Quantitative morphological analysis and 3D scanning of extra-intraorgan arteries regardingthe variants and types of their branching, as well as statistical data processing were carried out. Results. It was found out that the studied type of branching occurs in 15.5 % of cases and has 3 variants of subsequent branching. Depending on the type of branching, 7 to 9±1 segmental arteries were found. As a percentage, the blood supply to most of the kidney segments is provided by the segmental arteries of the upper polar branch. In a smaller volume, blood flows from the segmental arteries (SA) extending from the lower polar branch. Conclusion. Blood supply via segmental arteries from the main renal artery is not excluded. All the results obtained are statistically significant (at p<0.05). Conclusions. Segmental arteries from the upper polar branch are of the greatest importance in the blood supply to various segments of the kidney. The results of the 3D analysis prove that the division of the renal artery and its spatial anatomy depend on the variant and types of segmental artery branching.
